Course Overview
India's solar manufacturing sector is scaling fast, and manufacturing plants need trained technicians who can operate hi-tech production equipment, run quality-inspection checks, and keep panel and module lines running to standard. The Solar Operator Technician Course is built for exactly that role — a focused, 3-month program combining online theory with hands-on, in-plant practical training.
Whether you're an HSC pass-out, an ITI graduate, or hold a diploma in engineering, this course gives you the technical grounding and production-floor exposure hiring teams look for in an entry-level solar technician. It's also a natural first step if you later want to specialize further — many of our graduates go on to Battery Systems or Electric Vehicle Systems training to broaden their career options in India's wider clean-energy and mobility industry.
Eligibility Criteria
This course is open to any candidate who meets one of the following academic qualifications — no prior industry experience required.
- 10+2 (HSC) pass from a recognized board
- ITI Certificate — Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation trade
- Diploma in Engineering (any relevant discipline)
Open to all genders, with no upper age restriction beyond standard employability norms.
Curriculum: What You'll Learn
Eight modules take you from renewable-energy fundamentals to full solar-battery systems, mixing self-paced online theory with in-plant practical sessions — part of IISE's full lineup of Solar Energy courses.
Introduction to Renewable Energy
Understand India's renewable energy landscape — solar, wind, hydro, and biomass — and see exactly where solar manufacturing and plant operations fit into the country's clean-energy push.
Basics of Electricity
Build a practical foundation in electrical fundamentals — voltage, current, resistance, and AC vs DC — taught with real components rather than theory alone.
Solar Radiation & Measurement
Learn how solar irradiance is measured and why it directly determines a system's output, using the same instruments used on production floors and installation sites.
Working of Solar Cells
Go inside a solar cell to understand the photovoltaic effect — how sunlight becomes electricity at a semiconductor level, and how that scales up to full panels and arrays.
Solar Modules
Study how individual cells are assembled into modules, the quality-inspection checkpoints used in manufacturing, and the standards your QC role will be measured against on the job.
Solar Charge Controllers
Learn how charge controllers regulate power between panels and batteries, and the practical difference between PWM and MPPT controllers used across residential and industrial systems.
Solar Inverters
Understand how inverters convert DC to usable AC power, the difference between string, central, and micro inverters, and the safety checks technicians run during installation and servicing.
Solar Batteries
Get hands-on with the battery systems that store solar energy for later use — chemistry types, charge/discharge cycles, and safe handling procedures. This module overlaps closely with our Battery Systems courses, and many Technician graduates go on to build deeper battery expertise there.
Delivery Format & Duration
The course runs over 3 months and combines self-paced online theory modules with in-plant, hands-on practical training inside a fully operational solar manufacturing facility — so you're learning on the same kind of equipment you'll work with on the job.
Certification
On successful completion of the course and its practical assessments, you'll receive Industrial Certification, recognised by IISE's hiring partners across the solar manufacturing and EPC sector.
