Course Overview

India's push toward energy efficiency under the Energy Conservation Act has created sustained demand for qualified Energy Auditors and Energy Managers across manufacturing, commercial real estate, and government infrastructure. The Certified Energy Auditor Course at IISE takes you from foundational energy audit principles to confident, BEE-exam-ready expertise in 12 structured weeks.

You'll learn to read a facility's energy consumption patterns, conduct thermal and electrical audits, recommend conservation measures, and build the detailed audit reports that hiring managers and ESCOs expect. Many of our energy auditing students go on to build complementary expertise in solar energy systems and battery storage, since renewable energy retrofits are now a standard part of commercial energy audits.

BEE Certification Pathway: What You're Working Toward

The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), under the Ministry of Power, administers the National Certification Examination (NCE) for Energy Managers and Energy Auditors through an appointed National Certifying Agency, as mandated by the Energy Conservation Act, 2001. Qualifying as an Energy Auditor requires clearing all four papers of the exam with a minimum of 50% in each — covering general energy management, thermal utilities, electrical utilities, and energy performance assessment.

💡 Important: IISE's curriculum is mapped to all four BEE NCE papers and prepares you for the exam, but registration and the examination itself are administered separately by the National Certifying Agency. We'll guide you through that process as part of the course.

Curriculum & Modules

01

Foundations of Energy Management & the Energy Conservation Act

Weeks 1–2: Energy scenario in India, the Energy Conservation Act 2001, roles of Energy Managers vs. Energy Auditors, and the structure of the BEE certification pathway.

02

Energy Auditing Methodology & Instrumentation

Weeks 3–4: Preliminary vs. detailed energy audits, data collection protocols, and hands-on training with audit instruments.

💡 Pro Tip: Instrument familiarity is tested directly in BEE Paper 4 — this module builds that muscle memory early.
03

Thermal Utilities — Boilers, Furnaces & HVAC

Weeks 5–6: Performance assessment of boilers, furnaces, steam systems, and HVAC, mapped to BEE Paper 2.

04

Electrical Utilities — Motors, Lighting, Power Factor & Transformers

Weeks 7–8: Electrical load analysis, motor efficiency, power factor correction, and transformer losses, mapped to BEE Paper 3.

05

Energy Performance Assessment & Financial Analysis

Weeks 9–10: Equipment-level performance assessment, payback analysis, and ROI modeling for conservation measures — direct preparation for BEE Paper 4.

06

Capstone Energy Audit Project & BEE Exam Readiness

Weeks 11–12: A complete, mentor-reviewed energy audit project plus structured mock tests across all four BEE papers.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between an Energy Manager and an Energy Auditor certification?+
An Energy Manager qualifies by clearing the first three BEE papers and can be designated to manage in-house energy programs. An Energy Auditor clears all four papers and is eligible for accreditation to conduct mandatory third-party energy audits.
Does this course guarantee BEE certification?+
No course can guarantee a government exam result. IISE's curriculum is mapped to all four BEE NCE papers and prepares you thoroughly, but the registration and examination are administered separately by the National Certifying Agency.
What are the eligibility criteria for the BEE Energy Auditor exam?+
Eligibility is based on your engineering qualification combined with relevant work experience — see the Eligibility section above for the current combinations. If you don't yet meet the experience requirement, you can still take this course to build your skills.
Is the course online or in-person?+
It's a blended program: live-online instructor-led sessions combined with self-paced modules, completed over 12 weeks.
Can I pay in installments?+
Yes. The course fee of ₹39,999 supports EMI/installment options through Razorpay at checkout. Enroll now to see available plans.
What tools and software will I learn to use?+
You'll get hands-on exposure to power/energy analyzers, lux meters, thermal imaging cameras, combustion analyzers, flow meters, and energy audit reporting/modeling software.
What career opportunities open up after certification?+
Graduates typically move into in-house energy management roles, ESCO and government empanelment opportunities, or independent energy audit consultancy — with growing demand in solar and EV-adjacent assessments.
Can I combine this with other IISE courses?+
Yes — many students pair this certification with our Solar Energy, Battery Systems, or EV Systems courses to offer a broader range of energy services.
What is the refresher requirement to maintain certification?+
BEE certification is valid for life, subject to attending an authorized refresher training course once every five years to retain active status.
