Course Overview

The Certified Energy Auditor Course at IISE takes you from foundational energy audit principles to confident, BEE-exam-ready expertise in 12 structured weeks.

BEE Certification Pathway: What You're Working Toward
The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), under the Ministry of Power, administers the National Certification Examination (NCE) for Energy Managers and Energy Auditors through an appointed National Certifying Agency, as mandated by the Energy Conservation Act, 2001. Qualifying as an Energy Auditor requires clearing all four papers of the exam with a minimum of 50% in each — covering general energy management, thermal utilities, electrical utilities, and energy performance assessment.

Foundations of Energy Management & the Energy Conservation Act
Weeks 1–2: Energy scenario in India, the Energy Conservation Act 2001, roles of Energy Managers vs. Energy Auditors, and the structure of the BEE certification pathway.
Energy Auditing Methodology & Instrumentation
Weeks 3–4: Preliminary vs. detailed energy audits, data collection protocols, and hands-on training with audit instruments.
Thermal Utilities — Boilers, Furnaces & HVAC
Weeks 5–6: Performance assessment of boilers, furnaces, steam systems, and HVAC, mapped to BEE Paper 2.
Electrical Utilities — Motors, Lighting, Power Factor & Transformers
Weeks 7–8: Electrical load analysis, motor efficiency, power factor correction, and transformer losses, mapped to BEE Paper 3.
Energy Performance Assessment & Financial Analysis
Weeks 9–10: Equipment-level performance assessment, payback analysis, and ROI modeling for conservation measures — direct preparation for BEE Paper 4.
Capstone Energy Audit Project & BEE Exam Readiness
Weeks 11–12: A complete, mentor-reviewed energy audit project plus structured mock tests across all four BEE papers.

Eligibility to sit the BEE National Certification Examination follows one of these qualification-and-experience combinations (verify the latest cycle's exact requirements before registering):
